Website maintenance in Spain, dealt with in English
A website is not finished the day it goes live. Certificates expire, the software behind it gets updates, a plugin stops being maintained, your hours change and nobody edits them. None of it shows in month one. It all shows at once around year two.
What usually reaches us is not a broken website. It is an abandoned one: prices from three years ago, a contact form that has been sending to a dead mailbox since the email changed, and a red warning in the browser because a certificate lapsed on a Sunday.
And on this coast there is a second problem behind the first. The hosting company answers in Spanish, the registrar sends its renewal notices in Spanish, and the invoice is in Spanish. That is the part we take off your hands — you deal with us in English and never have that conversation.
The Spanish side is ours
Registrar, hosting, renewals, invoices, suppliers. You are told what happened, in English, after it is done.
Backups that have been tested
Automatic, stored off the server and actually restored at least once. A backup nobody has ever restored is a folder, not a backup.
Updates and security
Software, plugins and certificate kept current. It is what prevents most of the incidents, and it is exactly what nobody does.
Your changes each month
Hours, prices, photos, a new page. You ask and it is done, without quoting for every small thing.
A report you can read
Each month, what was touched and how the site is doing. If you pay a monthly fee you are entitled to see what it bought.
No lock-in
Leave when you want and take the site, the domain and the backups with you. No notice period, no exit fee.
Common questions
How much should maintenance cost?
From €129 a month for backups, updates, security and normal content changes. Hosting and the domain are separate and in your name, roughly €60 to €100 a year.
You didn't build my site. Does that matter?
No. We review it first and tell you whether it can be maintained as it stands or whether something has to be fixed first. If it runs on something abandoned, we say so before charging you anything.
The person who built my site has vanished. Can you take over?
Usually. The first thing to check is whose name the domain is registered in, because in this area it is very often the previous designer's. Until that is sorted, the site is not entirely yours.
Is SEO included?
No. Maintenance keeps the site working; ranking is separate work and is quoted separately. A monthly fee that bundles both without listing what is actually done is one of the most common ways to be overcharged here.
Do I really need it?
It depends what the site runs on. A small static site can go years untouched. Something with a content manager and a dozen plugins cannot — there, updates are security. And if you have someone who will do it, skip the fee. What is not an option is no backups and no updates, which is where most sites are.
